I bring over 30 years of public service experience in transportation, emergency response, and local government operations. My career began with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) in the Northern Virginia District, where I specialized in roadway maintenance, project and contract management, and emergency response operations.

• Managed a team of 40 employees to ensure 24/7 incident detection and response on the interstate system.

• Provided key logistical and operational support during critical incidents, including the Pentagon recovery efforts following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

• Coordinated large-scale responses to natural disasters and severe weather, overseeing over 100 employees and 50+ pieces of equipment to ensure public safety and restore operations swiftly.

• Led efforts that required collaboration with multiple jurisdictions to ensure rapid, coordinated responses to emergencies.

 

Following my retirement from VDOT, I continued my commitment to public service:

• Served Fairfax County Government, working with Fairfax County Public Schools to support the transportation of special needs students.

• Concluded my local government career with the Fairfax County Fire Department, in the Special Services/Logistics Division, supporting emergency services operations and logistics.

 

Volunteer Service

• Over 10 years as a volunteer firefighter, serving with both the Franconia and Gainesville Volunteer Fire Departments.

• Developed strong skills in leadership, crisis management, and financial oversight while supporting front-line emergency operations.

• Early in my career, I gained federal experience in asset management with the U.S. Department of the Army at Fort Belvoir.
