This is a bit of a lengthy post, so please bear with me. Since day one, transparency and honesty have been paramount in my campaign. Since receiving the attached email below, I've felt it necessary to share with the public (with permission) what's been occurring.
Around January 2025, several people approached me and encouraged me to run for Town Council. Their reasoning? "I had a different thought process on topics," and "I ask questions others don't. It's time for Sunset Beach to have Fresh Faces and Fresh Ideas."
Ten months later, I'm still hearing that same message. Those same folks also warned me about the "traps that the slate candidates and their supporters would play on the opposing candidates." If you can recall, I addressed this in a previous message; and explained that I would not attend meet and greets or "open meetings" sponsored by, financed by, held by, moderated by, fielded screened questions, supporters and financial contributors and campaign workers (treasurer to one of the) opposing slate of candidates.

Much credit to Katie Bordeaux for also telling a story on her campaign page referencing this same topic (Click on the QR Code or visit "Committee to Elect Katie Bordeaux" on Facebook). Look for a post with the bolded lines that reads, "Did you Know that the slate candidates Committee Teams organized two Meet and Greets then invited the other candidates as an after thought?"
Unfortunately, those that warned me about the slate candidates' actions were 100% correct... the slate has resorted to writing negative stories and spreading false narratives about me, such as "I'm running as a slate", and assassinating my character by inferring that, "I don't care about Sunset Beach," "I hide from the tough questions," "I have no managerial experience - only a worker bee my whole career," and, "I'm completely unqualified to be a Town Council member."
I pay their bullying and rumor mongering no mind; I want to focus on the POSITIVES in my campaign. The world has enough negativity; we must lift others up. That brings me full circle to the "Fresh Faces with Fresh Ideas" mindset. I'm not part of any slate of candidates running for office. I am an independent thinker wanting to shine a different light on our local government. I've been repeatedly asked, "Sean who are you endorsing? Who should I vote for?" Vote for who you feel best suits yours and your family's needs.
While I'm not endorsing anyone, I will vote for the following people on the premise that got me involved in this run for office in the first place... Fresh Faces, with Fresh Ideas. Having said that, I am voting for Christie Batchelor, Katie Bordeaux, and William "Billy" Brougham. And equally as important, I must include Mayor Shannon "Hot Dog" Phillips. Let's give Mayor Phillips a team with Fresh Faces and Fresh Ideas.
Below is a very courageous letter written by Mr. Jim Memory. Mr. Memory originally entered the Town of Sunset Beach Council race but withdrew his candidacy. Mr. Memory has graciously allowed anyone to share his letter as long as it's shared in its entirety, as I have done below.
Mr. Memory tells a story that further bolsters what many citizens have been suspected for years. Thank you, Mr. Memory!
