Good Monday afternoon,
I would like to share some information about myself and my decision to run for Town Council. In recent years, I’ve noticed a disconnect between the Town Council and the citizens of Sunset Beach. Many residents feel that their voices have been overlooked or disregarded by the Council. This sentiment of being disrespected and ignored has led to mounting frustration over the past several months.
As this frustration grew, calls for change increased, including myself. After expressing my concerns at numerous meetings - such as the lack of financial planning, transparency, and a vision for Sunset Beach's future - several citizens approached me and encouraged me to run for Council. They appreciated my ideas, thought processes, and honesty on issues affecting every taxpayer in our beautiful Town. While I respect the Town Council's position, I have differing views on some of their proclaimed successes, such as island parking, dredging, higher tax rates, and extra spending.
I have extensive experience in public and volunteer service, emergency response operations, project and contract management, roadway and infrastructure maintenance, staff leadership and workforce management, budgeting and financial oversight, interagency coordination, and ethical, transparent public service.
I firmly believe in leveraging the strengths and experiences of others to achieve positive outcomes. Our Town has hundreds of citizens with diverse work and life experiences eager to contribute. Why not utilize these experiences for the betterment of Sunset Beach?
Change is only successful when it is acted upon. The 2025 Municipal Election offers the perfect opportunity to realize these changes. I am committed to working for YOU - the taxpayer, the citizen, MY NEIGHBORS!
My vision is to see new faces and new ideas on the 2026 Town Council. We must plan for the challenges facing our Town and prepare accordingly. I am willing to go the extra mile to implement positive changes. To those who have already cast their vote in my favor, I extend my sincerest gratitude. For those still considering, I would be honored to earn your trust and support to act in the best interests of our citizens and our Town.
And remember, WE ARE ONE SUNSET BEACH.
Sean
