Apologies for the delay in sharing my updates; the past few weeks have been exceptionally busy. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has reached out with questions and requests for signs. Your support is greatly appreciated. Additionally, thank you to those who have visited me to discuss topics of interest - I truly value your engagement and backing.
However, alongside the positive aspects, there have been some unfortunate incidents. I did not anticipate encountering such issues after choosing to reside in this small, beautiful community. On three separate occasions, my campaign signs were vandalized along Sunset Blvd. Furthermore, some of my signs were removed/stolen along Shoreline Dr W. This was concerning enough for me to report the vandalism/theft to the police department.
What is also concerning is that I have been cautioned about potential false statements being made about me, possibly appearing in a local newspaper just before election day, leaving me no opportunity to respond. If such tactics are employed, it suggests that my efforts are impactful and causing concern. I have also been warned about staged Q&A events organized by the opposition, where friendly questions are directed at the slated team while I (and other candidates not on said team) are presented with the more difficult ones. I was invited to two such events but had prior commitments, which I communicated to the sponsors.
It is important to note that attending these events must be reported as a campaign expense to the NC Board of Elections. Upon declaring my candidacy for Town Council, I committed to the Board of Elections that my campaign expenditures would not surpass $10,000. Participation in any sponsored public events or Meet & Greets would necessitate listing them as line-item expenditures in my campaign reports, which could potentially lead to exceeding the $10,000 spending limit I am obligated to maintain.
